meanings & history
remake of a KENTE (the
tipical cloth of Asante people). Red + orange GLETSI by novi
(secondary heddles). Red or yellow Adanu (brocade) "TSATEA"
(fingers) "Fingers are human tools for practical expression
of human thought. Smbol of practicality, dignity, of labour and
creativity" (Kente is more than a cloth). Ewe weavers can
also weave clohes with typical Asante patterns,
but they rarely admit such pieces in their own collections. Anyway:"AFEVO can be sold
in the market" (D. Massiasta).
