TREVOR PILLING

Growing up in North Queensland, Australia in the 1960’s Trevor Pilling gained his early piano experience at parties and High School dances before moving on to the bigger jazz world in Melbourne.

Like many Australians, Trevor felt the gravitational pull of Europe and by the 1970’s was playing in jazz clubs around London then Lugano and Milano. In Athens in the 1980’s the TREVOR PILLING TRIO was the house band at the “Half Note” club for 4 years as well as gigging in Piraeus and the Islands.

In the 1990’s he re-entered the London scene being a regular at Brown’s, the Archiduke Jazz Café , Café Rouge and others.

In the last ten years he has divided his time between Rome and Australia. In Rome he has played both solo and in groups  in various “locali” in Trastevere, Testaccio, Prati and Via Veneto. In Australia he played with “Route 66” in Barrier Reef resorts and in several Jazz Festivals in the North.

Back in his beloved Italy, Rome and Umbria, and re-entering its Jazz scene Trevor brings his unique musical style: from cocktail music to swinging, exuberant ,bluesy jazz, from the great 20th century songbook (Gershwin, Porter, Ellington…) with visits to Nino Rota, Ennio Morricone, Mina… and many Roman and Neapolitan songs.
