    The Weaving Performance
proceeds to the rhythm of the special drum:
    the Kente Drum.
    It is entirely covered
with different pieces of old cloth
    because it has to transmit
    the rhythm of the weaving.

Ewe Kente Weaving

First of all libations are made to the ancestors
who passed down the art of weaving.

Alaska Azameti
wears the traditional costume of the musicians:
a "Tsaka " in Kente cloth.
The band of musicians
leads the authorities and all the public
in a procession towards the Circle.

Ewe Kente Weaving While the dancing proceeds in the Circle,
the Virtual Textile Trip is screened.
Each sample of cloth, multiplied on the computer screen, becomes a stage on a kaleidoscopic journey through a hundred original chromatic modules. This is the most extensive document on Kente available on the Internet. There is also an annotated catalogue of the pieces, featuring images and texts illustrating all the phases of the weaving within its environmental and cultural context.
